Sanders & Sanders Ltd. was founded in 1873 by brothers William and Thomas Sanders in Rushden, Northamptonshire, with just five craftsmen. Despite early difficulties, the business expanded and moved to a larger factory on Spencer Road in 1912, eventually producing thousands of shoes a week, including 6,000 pairs of military boots during the First World War. In 1924, a devastating fire destroyed the factory, but the brothers rebuilt it with modern machinery, transforming it into a 'model factory'. Today, Sanders & Sanders remains a family business, producing over 2,000 high-quality shoes and boots each week and exporting to over seventy countries worldwide.
